SECURITY AUDIT CHECKLISTS
Security audit plans and checklists are the starting point of sound audit. They represent the start point of the exercise - a map to ensure that the review follows a logical path and takes on board issues that could otherwise be overlooked.
Why start with a blank piece of paper when considering what must be covered in an audit? If it is available, why not re-use the work of others? It isn't mandatory to use the checklist/plan word for word - it can be used as the basis for an original audit. But having a trusted map and content to begin with can certainly save a great deal of effort and can give additional assurance.
The Security Audit Shop is a resource consisting solely of security audit aids: plans, checklists, questionnaires and so on. It is highly recommended.
